MINISTRIES – Mount Olive Baptist Church

At Mount Olive Baptist Church, we are committed to reflecting biblical principles by serving those in need, knowing that faith becomes real through action. Scripture calls us to care for others, as seen in Matthew 25:35-40, where Jesus teaches that feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and visiting the sick is service unto Him. Inspired by the unity and generosity of the early church in Acts 2:44-45, we strive to share our resources and foster a deep sense of community.

Galatians 6:9-10 reminds us to persevere in doing good, knowing that our efforts will bear fruit in God’s time. At Mount Olive, we seek to embody this spirit by providing tangible expressions of Christ’s love—ensuring that all who connect with our ministry experience compassion, dignity, and hope. As James 2:17 teaches, "Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." Our faith comes alive as we engage in meaningful service, uplifting individuals, families, and communities through acts of love and generosity.

At Mount Olive Baptist Church, we stand firmly on the truth of God’s Word and reject the recent comments made by Pastor Donnie Swaggart about the Black church. It is difficult to understand why Swaggart would speak as if he were an authoritative figure, deciding when, how, or who we should worship. Such rhetoric dismisses the spiritual autonomy and profound legacy of the Black church, which has always sought to uplift all humanity through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

While Christian Nationalism emphasizes control and political power, the Black church embraces the Gospel of Social Justice—a mission rooted in love, justice, and mercy, working to transform individuals and communities alike. Our tradition reflects the heart of Christ, who called us to serve the least of these (Matthew 25:35-40) and bring hope and healing to all people.

At Mount Olive, we remain committed to freely worshiping God, serving boldly, and engaging in the work of justice and mercy for the glory of God and the good of our community. Micah 6:8 reminds us: “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” We will continue to walk in that truth, lifting up all people in the spirit of Christ’s love.

**Altar Guild Ministry**

This ministry works alongside the Pastor to beautify the **altar and sanctuary** throughout the year, providing flowers and decorations that enhance worship experiences.

**Media Arts Ministry**

Our Media Arts team ensures seamless **audio and visual production** for services. They also maintain a catalogue of recorded sermons and services, making them available for our **sick and shut-in** members, as well as worshippers, for a **nominal fee**.

**Music & Arts Ministry**

The Music & Arts Ministry includes **choirs, musicians, dancers, and actors** who minister through diverse forms of worship, ranging from hymns and anthems to gospel music. This ministry offers a **holistic approach to worship** that engages the entire church community.

**Christian Education Ministry**

Our Christian Education Ministry provides **consistent and balanced programming** through **Sunday School** and **seasonal Christian Institute classes**, equipping attendees of all ages to grow in their understanding of Scripture and faith.

**Deacon Board**

Ordained men serving to assist the Pastor in ministry, the Deacons also manage the **Benevolence Fund**, which supports individuals in need within the church and the **Hackensack community**.

**Deaconess Board**

The Deaconess Board serves as **spiritual role models for women**, assisting in **Communion preparation** and **baptism support**. They also take on special projects that serve the church family.

**Drama Ministry**

This ministry shares the Gospel through **performance arts**, presenting skits, plays, and other creative productions that bring **joy and inspiration** throughout the year.

**Education & Scholarship Committee**

Dedicated to supporting **education and learning**, this ministry provides scholarships for high school students entering college or trade school and **book scholarships** for adult members pursuing higher education or vocational training.

**Host/Hostess Ministry**

This ministry offers **hospitality** by warmly welcoming all visitors on behalf of the church, ensuring that everyone feels at home.

**Intercessory Prayer Ministry**

This ministry gathers **weekly in prayer** on Thursdays at 6:00 AM and Saturdays at 7:00 AM, interceding on behalf of individuals, the church, and the community.

**Usher Board**

Our Usher Board includes both **Senior and Junior Ushers**, who provide hospitality by greeting, seating, and guiding members and visitors during services.

Men’s Ministry**

The Men’s Ministry seeks to build **stronger faith** among the men of Mount Olive through **fellowship and Bible Study**. They meet on the **2nd and 4th Fridays at 7:00 PM** and host an annual **Prayer Breakfast** every October.

**Trustee Board**

The Trustee Board assists the Pastor by managing the church’s **financial and material resources**. They oversee **General, Building, and Earmark Funds**, maintain financial records, and care for the church’s property.

**Nurses Ministry**

This ministry assists the Pastor during services and offers **health support** to members through **Blood Pressure Clinics** and **Blood Drives**. The nurses are trained to respond to emergencies within the congregation.

**Women’s Ministry**

The Women’s Ministry fosters a **spiritual sisterhood** that encourages women to grow in faith and become agents of change within the church and community. They actively engage with women from **other churches and the surrounding community** to build unity and fellowship.

**Pastor’s Aide Ministry**

The Pastor’s Aide Ministry **supports and cares for the Pastor and his family**, helping the congregation understand the importance of pastoral care.

**Young Adult Ministry**
