About Mount Olive
Molding believers, influencing the world
The writer of Proverbs wrote, “Where there is no vision, the people perish (29:18). At Mount Olive it is our desire that you catch the vision God has given us that you begin to visualize the invisible. We have worked hard at defining our vision so that it is clear, challenging, and concise.
Mount Olive’s Vision Statement
The vision of Mount Olive Baptist Church is to be a culturally relevant African American church that provides dynamic worship of God, while extending his transforming Grace to reach the unchurched community.
There are several key phrases that outline our vision:
Mission
Molding believers, influencing the world
The mission of Mount Olive Baptist Church is to fulfill the Great Commission as outlined in Matthew 28:16-20—to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything Christ has commanded.
We are committed to proclaiming the Gospel, fostering spiritual growth, and equipping believers to live out their faith in every aspect of life. Through worship, teaching, and community engagement, we strive to nurture disciples who reflect the love and character of Jesus Christ.
At Mount Olive, we believe that faith in action transforms lives. Our goal is to reach our community and beyond, making an impact through service, justice, and love, trusting that Christ is with us always as we fulfill His mission
.

Beliefs
Molding believers, influencing the world
- The Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It serves as the foundation of our faith, providing guidance for life, doctrine, and spiritual growth.
- God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who is Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer of all things (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19).
- Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully human. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He offers salvation to all who believe in Him and trust in His sacrifice (John 3:16, Romans 5:8-10).
- The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells in every believer, empowering them for holy living, guiding them in truth, and equipping them with spiritual gifts for ministry (John 14:16-17, Galatians 5:22-23).
- Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift from God, offered by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not earned by works but given freely to those who repent and believe (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9).
- The Church
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, grow in faith, and serve the world. As a community of believers, we are committed to unity, love, and discipleship (Ephesians 4:12-13).
- Baptism and Communion
We believe in baptism by immersion as a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ and a symbol of new life. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice and as a proclamation of His return (Matthew 28:19, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
- Christian Living
We believe that believers are called to live transformed lives, reflecting Christ’s love through faith, integrity, and service to others (Romans 12:1-2). Faith must be accompanied by good works as evidence of a changed heart (James 2:17).
- Eternity
We believe in eternal life with God for believers and eternal separation from God for those who reject Him (John 14:2-3, Revelation 20:15).
- The Second Coming of Christ
We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ, who will establish His kingdom, bringing justice, renewal, and the fulfillment of God’s promises (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 21:1-4)
